Financial literacy & economic inclusion for all
POAK is developing a comprehensive Community Empowerment program to help both men and women build financial independence. We are actively planning to launch using the proven Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) model. Community members will form groups, pool savings, and provide small loans to each other to start or expand small businesses. Financial literacy training will be at the core of the program.
15-25 people meet weekly, contributing a small amount to a shared fund.
Savings accumulate over 9-12 months, typically 100-500 KES per week.
Members borrow from the group fund at low interest to start or grow a business.
At year end, profits are shared equally among all members.
"We envision a future where thousands of community members across Kenya have the financial knowledge, savings discipline, and business support to build sustainable livelihoods and break the cycle of poverty."
